I was taught how to do a basic body scan in an 8 week MBSR course designed by John Kabat-Zinn. I use this as the cornerstone of all of my meditation work for my chronic sensation otherwise known as pain. I invite you to close your eyes and try this one with me. Repeat it any time you feel like you’re unable to take it any more and have the urge to swallow more pills for pain. You may still have to take more pills but you will train your brain to put some space between your pain signal and the urge to medicate immediately as a reflex.
